Question 1

How does the platform work?

Accepted Answer

SciLit is a free e-learning platform that consists of 6 interactive modules teaching you how to recognize misinformation and pseudoscientific claims, understand cognitive biases, and develop critical thinking skills to protect human rights. Each module includes short video lessons, interactive activities, mini-games, and quizzes. You progress at your own pace and can track your advancement through your personal dashboard. The platform is available in English, French, Italian, Romanian, Hungarian, Slovenian, Bulgarian, and can be accessed from any device with an internet connection.

Question 2

Who can participate?

Accepted Answer

SciLit welcomes young people aged 14 to 30, youth workers, educators, facilitators and anyone passionate about developing critical thinking skills! To create an account, you must be at least 14 (15 if you live in Slovenia). This rule applies in the project's partner countries: if you register from another country, the minimum age is the one set by your national law. Youth workers and educators can access our special facilitation track with 6 additional modules and ready-to-use teaching toolkits to bring SciLit into their workshops and training sessions.

Question 3

Is SciLit completely free?

Accepted Answer

Yes! SciLit is 100% free. The project is funded by the European Union through the Erasmus+ program, which means there are no hidden costs, subscriptions, or premium features. All content and certifications are freely available to everyone.

Question 4

What languages is SciLit available in?

Accepted Answer

SciLit is available in 7 languages: English, French, Italian, Romanian, Hungarian, Slovenian, and Bulgarian. You can switch languages at any time using the language selector in the menu, and your progress is saved across all languages.

Question 5

How long does it take to complete all modules?

Accepted Answer

Each module takes approximately 45-60 minutes to complete. With 7 modules in total, you can complete the entire course in about 5-6 hours. However, you're encouraged to take your time and reflect on the content. There's no time limit!

Question 6

Do I get a certificate or badge?

Accepted Answer

Yes! When you finish all 7 modules, the SciLit partner organisation in your country will email you an official Youthpass certificate, recognised across Europe. You can also download a SciLit completion card (PDF or PNG) to celebrate your journey. This card is symbolic and doesn't replace the Youthpass. As you progress, you'll earn digital badges for your achievements, which you can share on social media and LinkedIn. Plus, you unlock collectible cards featuring human rights articles and critical thinking techniques.

Question 7

Is my progress saved automatically?

Accepted Answer

Yes! When you create a free account, all your progress is automatically saved to the cloud. You can pause at any time and continue exactly where you left off, from any device. Just make sure you're logged in to sync your progress.

Question 8

Can I retake modules or activities?

Accepted Answer

Absolutely! You can revisit and retake any module or activity as many times as you like. This is a great way to reinforce your learning or improve your quiz scores. Your best scores are always saved.

Question 9

What are the technical requirements?

Accepted Answer

SciLit works on any modern web browser (Chrome, Firefox, Safari, Edge) on desktop, tablet, or mobile devices. No installation or download is required. You need a stable internet connection to access the content. Most activities work offline once loaded, but progress is saved when you're connected. Creating an account is free. We only ask for your first name, surname and email address, and whether you're taking part as a young person or a youth worker. Your data is stored securely on servers in the European Union.

Question 10

Can I use SciLit on my phone?

Accepted Answer

Yes! SciLit is fully responsive and works great on smartphones and tablets. All features, including interactive games and quizzes, are optimized for touch screens. For the best experience, we recommend using a recent version of Chrome, Safari, or Firefox.

Question 11

Does SciLit work offline?

Accepted Answer

SciLit requires an internet connection to load content and save progress. However, once a lesson is loaded, you can continue working even if your connection becomes unstable. Your progress will sync automatically when you're back online.

Question 12

Can I use SciLit in my classroom or workshop?

Accepted Answer

Absolutely! SciLit is designed to be used both individually and in group settings. Many educators use our modules in classrooms, youth centers, and workshops. Check out our Youth Workers section for teaching guides, activity sheets, and implementation tips.

Question 13

Are there downloadable materials for educators?

Accepted Answer

Yes! We provide free downloadable resources including lesson plans, activity guides, printable worksheets, and presentation slides. Visit the Workshops section to access these materials and learn how to integrate SciLit into your educational programs.

Question 14

Can I track my students' progress?

Accepted Answer

Currently, SciLit focuses on individual learning journeys. However, you can organize campaigns through our Community feature where learners can join and share their progress. Group analytics features for educators are being developed for a future update.

Question 15

How is my data protected?

Accepted Answer

We take privacy seriously. Your data is stored securely on servers in the European Union, in line with the GDPR. To create your account, we ask for your first name, surname and email address, and whether you're a young person or a youth worker. As you use the platform, we also keep your learning progress (quizzes, points, badges), your answers to the questionnaire at the start and end of the course, and what you write in the community (comments, discussions, reports). Other learners see your public name, a nickname generated automatically that you can change, not your real name. A profile photo and a username are optional. Because SciLit is co-funded by the European Union through Erasmus+, your first name, surname, email address and young person or youth worker status are shared with the Romanian National Agency, which manages the grant, and with the European Commission, only to show that you took part in the project. We never sell your data or use it for marketing, advertising or profiling. The privacy policy gives all the details.

Question 16

Can I delete my account and data?

Accepted Answer

Yes. You can delete your account at any time from the Settings page. Your profile, your learning progress and what you've written in the community are then permanently deleted, and this cannot be undone. There's one exception, explained in the privacy policy: we have to keep a minimal record of your participation (first name, surname, email address and whether you took part as a young person or a youth worker) for five years from the final payment of the project grant, as required by the Erasmus+ grant agreement.
